What are T-slot aluminum profiles (e.g., 80/20, Bosch Rexroth type)?

T-slot aluminum profiles (modular framing systems) are extruded profiles with one or more longitudinal T-shaped slots running along their length. These slots allow for the insertion of specialized T-nuts or bolts from any point along the profile, enabling the easy, tool-less, and flexible connection of profiles, panels, and components at any angle. They are the “industrial erector set.”

    • Benefits: Modularity & Reconfigurability, fast assembly/disassembly, no need for drilling or welding in most cases, high strength-to-weight ratio, and integration with other automation components.
    • Applications: Machine frames, workstations, safety guards, enclosures, carts, laboratory equipment, and exhibition booths. Common brand names include 80/20 (USA), Bosch Rexroth (Germany), and Item (Germany).
